Hello my lovelies,
I am sure everyone knows them: cravings. Whether that's during the day or in the middle of the night, we all have them at some point. Usually, it is our body telling us "Hey! I want nutritions! You're missing out on something!" but sometimes... sometimes we just feel angry or sad or any type of emotion, really, and then they hit us. It was definitely the trickiest part when I first became vegan. I was craving chocolate, peanut butter cups, croissants, cakes, everything that I decided to cut out of my diet over night.
But hey, veganism is not about restricting and missing out on certain foods! You can have all that, just different! Unfortunately, if you don't have a vegan bakery or anything like that near you, you will have to make them yourself. I will also have a look around the stores and see what you could get when you feel a little peckish and the next supermarket near you has to be enough (this shouldn't become a habit though, if you want to stay on the healthy vegan side! But nobody has to stay healthy all the time. ;) )
Anyway, we are here for Mimi's lazy kitchen and in today's lazy kitchen, I made some Banana and Berry+Banana ice cream! Nothing special, pretty basic and probably the easiest and quickest way of getting a simple ice cream when you want to watch Netflix or your favourite TV-Show. It is a healthy and vegan option to the Ben & Jerry's pot in the freezers of your local supermarket - and, in my opinion, a lot nicer as well!
Step 1: Take as many ripe bananas as you want and cut them into slices, put them in the freezer for at least a few hours but, ideally, leave them there over night! (don't forget to freeze your berries :) Any type of berries will do!)
Step 2: Put the banana slices into a food processor or a blender and blend them until they are smooth and have a similar texture of ice cream (note: sometime, not enough banana slices make it harder to blend, you'll just have to keep pushing them closer to the blade -- please make sure to turn the blender off before you do it!)
Step 3: Fill a bowl or a glass with half of the amount of banana ice cream
Step 4: Add a handful of frozen berries to the other half of banana ice cream that is still in the blender. Blend again.
Step 5: Fill your bowl or glass with the berry ice cream and voilà! :) Enjoy it, and don't count the calories. It's only fruit. ;)
Also, if you want to, you can always mix some fruit pieces with it or top it up with some!
